In this workshop you will luxuriate in a yin flow led by Ryan Eurglunes followed by a nourishing acupuncture treatment by licensed acupuncturist Holly Shuman. This practice will support the fluid movement of the water element within while nourishing and warming the body. Restorative rest is essential to recharging, making this self-care combination a rich experience of renewal.
Each season belongs to an element. WINTER is the season of WATER. It’s all about slowing down to conserve our energy in Winter. The darker and colder days invite in the meditative space to rest, reflect & restore. It’s essential to replenish our resources in winter in preparation for spring. Like a seed concentrating its energy to burst forth in the spring, winter provides us the quiet to do the same. By living in harmony with the seasons, we can support our health & wellness year round.
From The Huang Di Nei Jing ("The Inner Classic of the Yellow Emperor”)
“During the Winter months all things in nature wither, hide, return home, and enter a resting period, just as lakes and rives freeze and snow falls. This is a time when yin dominates yang. Therefore one should refrain from overusing the yang energy. Retire early and get up with the sunrise, which is later in Winter. Desires and mental activity should be kept quiet and subdued, as if keeping a happy secret. Stay warm, avoid the cold, and keep the skin covered. Avoid sweating. The theory of the Winter season is one of conservation and storage. Without such practice the result will be injury to the Kidney energy. This will cause weakness, shrinking of muscles, and coldness; then the body loses its ability to open and move about in the Spring.”
