Join us for this special celebration of the Indian Festival of Diwali. Diwali is the five-day Festival of Lights, celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world. Diwali, which for some also coincides with harvest and new year celebrations, is a festival of new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil, and light over darkness.
Gurdeep will tell the story of Diwali and lead a puja to the Goddess Lakshmi. You will experience a guided meditation surrounded by beautiful candle light.
During Diwali, people wear their finest clothes, illuminate the interior and exterior of their homes with diyas and rangoli, perform worship ceremonies of Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity and wealth, light fireworks, and partake in family feasts, where mithai (sweets) and gifts are shared.
Diwali celebrates Rama's eventual defeat of the evil spirit Ravana, and his triumphant return to his home. The business community considers it an auspicious time to start new ventures, as the festival coincides with the Hindu New Year.
