Along with the abdominal and low back muscles, pelvic floor muscles ARE part of your core. They can become weakened or hypertonic for both women and men for a multitude of reasons including injury, childbirth, hormonal changes, inactivity, etc. Knowing how to engage your core and pelvic floor will help maintain full-body stability, strength, and can help to prevent dysfunction.
You will learn and experience:
•Yoga and mobility for engaging and strengthening all parts of your core
•How pranayama can support and enhance your core work
•How relaxation is as important as strength to core and pelvic floor health
•Bandhas (yogic energy locks), bracing, and intra-abdominal pressure to enliven your physical and energetic core
•How to apply the principles you learn to your everyday life and movement practices
•Take home educational materials

About Tim:
Tim Griffin’s teaching emphasizes the primacy of breath, the cultivation of a moving meditative state, stability, enduring strength, and function over form. He considers sound, and silence, to be a key part of his classes as well as a sense of humor for the tough bits. He encourages his students to practice self-compassion while on the mat and a whole-hearted approach to living beyond it.
Tim's study of yoga started in the Ashtanga/Vinyasa tradition but soon widened to incorporate learning from many styles of meditation and movement. He feels especially aligned with the traditions of Himalayan Institute and Viniyoga. He is certified E-RYT with well over 1000 hours of formal training in yoga, meditation, shamanism, mantra and other approaches to human movement and health. About Colleen:
Colleen Duggan-Cuomo, ERYT 500, YACEP, certified women’s coaching specialist.
Colleen is an advanced certified yoga and meditation teacher and continuing education provider. She has a deep, embodied understanding of the benefits of yoga that comes along with a long term, dedicated self practice. Colleen's Hatha Yoga classes are intelligently sequenced to bring maximum healing and transformation to body, mind and spirit. She offers group and one on one sessions in yoga, meditation and breath work for total body wellness. Although she enjoys working with all ages and genders, Colleen specializes in helping women navigate the physical, emotional and spiritual changes that happen at midlife and beyond. Full payment is required to reserve a space in workshops. All workshops are non-refundable. Due to limited space and high demand for some workshops we have a 24 hour cancelation policy. Cancelations made more than 24 hours in advance will be issued studio credit. No credit will be given for cancelations made less than 24 hours.
