Yin Yoga + Acupuncture

Saturday, March 25, 2023

3:30 - 5:00 pm

$40 | with MaryBeth Clancy and Holly Shuman

Are you beginning to feel the restlessness, curiosity and exhilarating sensations of Spring, but, maybe your energy is stuck in low gear? Your mind is ready to "spring forward" but your body is still in hibernation mode. Yin Yoga and Acupuncture, the "dynamic duo" of energy medicine, team up to stimulate and harmonize our natural inner Spring energy rhythms with the seasonal Spring dynamism.

Yin Yoga and Acupuncture are potent mind-body healing energy practices that have the power to liberate, harmonize and restore the smooth flow of energy that connects your mind and body. Balanced energy flow adds the spring in your step, the urge to engage, discover and move! It is the key to your health and well being.

Join MaryBeth, experienced Yin Yoga Teacher and Reiki Master, and Holly Shuman, licensed Acupuncturist, in this 90 minute energy journey to enhanced well being. Mary Beth will open the workshop with a playful, meditative Yin sequence (all seated and reclined poses held in quiet stillness) designed to release muscular and mind stress, tightness and fatigue while nourishing, unlocking, lengthening and rehydrating the stiffer fascia and connective tissues needed for joint health, flexibility, greater range of motion and ease.

Holly Shuman, Marblehead-based licensed Acupuncturist, will then offer each participant a powerful treatment called the 4 Gates. This elegant combination of points will liberate stagnant energy and restore the smooth flow of energy.

There will be time at the end for Q+A.

These engaging mind-body energy practices will leave you feeling relaxed, calm and re-energized.

About Mary Beth:

Mary Beth has been practicing, learning, and teaching Yin Yoga-Meditation for 15 years. One of her favorite mottos “arrive curious, leave Yin-spired.”   She experiences her yin and vinyasa yoga-meditation practices, energy work, dancing, and sound meditation practices as Labyrinth - like, devotional pathways that invite us to walk inward together to our shared center still point - the Love-Mystery - in service to one another.  For her, Yoga-Meditation is a real love story that we write and rewrite every moment, every practice as we choose to befriend ourselves and each other, and free our mind-body-spirit from conditioning and patterns that keep Rumi’s “field of limitless possibilities” hidden from us.

With gentle encouragement, she invites you to “smile, laugh, cry, stumble and walk along the path with me as we excavate our lives with awe, humor, resilience, gratitude, compassion, and commitment through various mind-body practices. Mary Beth’s students often comment that she genuinely “sees” each person, offers rejuvenating classes, and aspires to create a Yin Yoga Meditation Sangha - a community of Yin - curious and Yin - regulars to Yin-spire each other.

Mary Beth is an E-RYT 200++ Yin, Vinyasa and Restorative yoga, certified Yin Yoga Meditation Teacher through Sagel Urlacher, Reiki II practitioner thru Jean Davis, Sound Healing Artist training with Adrian DiMatteo, and conscious breathing meditation student/mentor for practicing the Art of Zen Breathing with the San Francisco Zen Center.  She completed inter-spiritual ministry and Mantra studies with spiritual teacher-author Dr. Stephanie Rutt. Mary Beth is also an inter-spiritual minister and counselor, M.A., Education and Crisis Management; she has worked with individuals and families facing addiction and learning challenges.

True to her Irish roots, she enjoys a great story (The Moth was a favorite radio show) offering hospitality, sharing a deep laugh, dancing, poetry, easeful hikes, a simmering stew and a well brewed cup of tea!

About Holly Shuman, MCPHS, L.Ac

Holly became fascinated by the power of acupuncture after seeking treatment for her miserable allergies. The benefits of the treatments were spilling over into other aspects of her life. She was sleeping better and felt less reactive. Her quality of life generally improved with more energy and less irritability. With no downtime, side effects or prescriptions, acupuncture had changed her life.

“I love what I do!” Holly says. “Everyday I have the opportunity to bring relief, hope and connection to my patients. Healing often starts with just being heard, acknowledged or truly cared for. It's an honor to be a part of someone else's healing journey.”

Holly’s curiosity and clinical experiences have taken her in many directions, as acupuncture is an effective treatment for countless conditions. She has continued her education in areas that most interest her, such as women's health, pain management, anxiety and depression.

You can follow Holly’s acupuncture practice on Instagram here.
