The Yoga Loft Storybook: Tom Jacobs
Why/when/where did you start practicing yoga?
I started practicing yoga at The Yoga Loft about ten years ago, taking classes with Larisa, Vito and Hilary. I enjoy vinyasa, meditation, restorative as well as essentials classes. I became even more involved when my wife, Beth, did her first teacher training. I am her number one student. This past year, I loved taking outdoor yoga through the Loft, guided by Beth and meeting follow yogis outside the studio.
How has yoga changed or influenced your life?
Yoga has allowed me maintain my flexibility and has helped with recovery from sport injuries. I had a hard fall while mountain biking a few years ago and found that yoga helped me regain mobility in my ankle. Yoga has also helped me to recover from shoulder surgery. My practice has also given me a deeper connection to my wife and daughter. After taking many classes with Vito and finding a love for yoga, I was inspired to go on a yoga retreat to Peru. It was not only a lifelong dream vacation, but it connected me deeper into yoga practices and meditation.
What keeps you busy outside of the studio?
I own a local construction company which keeps me busy and active. I have always been into outdoor sports and I am a bit of a adrenaline junkie. I love mountain biking, cycling, tuna fishing as well as hiking. Almost any activity outdoors with friends and family is great!
Do you have a LinkedIn, Facebook or Instagram page that we can share on our page?
Nope, I am old school. If you see me out and about walking with my wife and my dog, Lexi, say Hi!
