Teacher Spotlight: Jennifer Craig

The first time I stepped onto the mat was in college while studying Sport Management at Salem State. It wasn’t until I took my first Baptiste Power Vinyasa class that something really clicked. From there it became a regular practice.

What was your first yoga experience?

What made you become a yoga teacher?

I had been teaching Step, Hi/Low, and Muscle Conditioning classes (I know, I’m dating myself here!) but started to practice yoga more regularly. When my employer at the time (Fitcorp) offered a Teacher Development program through Boston Yoga in the winter of 2002, I knew right away I wanted to teach. I was so passionate about my experience on the mat that I just wanted to share it with everyone!

What is your favorite pose and why?

Natarajasana ~ Dancers Pose. It feels so freeing and quite expressive. The union of heart opening, balance, and meditation. I’ve heard it described as the asana jackpot. For me, that feels about right!

Where do you draw inspiration from for your classes?

We’re all motivated by different things but essentially, there is something within us that wants to help, inspire, and serve others. My inspiration comes from wanting to make a difference, for helping others, for building community. I believe in the transformative, healing, rejuvenating, and uplifting powers of the practice. I’m inspired daily by those who show up. Together we are stronger.

What is something you enjoy outside of Yoga?

Anything outdoors! SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) Yoga, Hiking, and playing with our two yellow labs Roxy Jade & Kona Grace.
