Teacher Spotlight: Dr. Anne Gilbride D.C.
My first experience in yoga was while I was in Doctorate program. To say I was stressed out would be an understatement. It was a slow flow hatha class....true story...most of the other students were actually professional football players who told me how amazing I would feel adding some yoga to my life! I vividly remember how relaxed and quiet I felt after savasana...so much so that my husband commented on my change in energy. I was hooked...I wanted more of that change in my life!
What was your first yoga experience?
What made you become a yoga teacher?
The practice of yoga (all eight limbs)literally changed my life...most significantly the state of my mind. I realized that I wanted a chance to share the teaching and be a catalyst for change in other people’s lives.
What is your favorite pose and why?
I love wild thing...or as we Shiva Rea practitioners call is “Sacred Body “ pose....so much right side up with your heart comes from being upside down!!
Where do you draw inspiration from for your classes?
I have two mantras that I take into every day, not just teaching...
“Be the change that you want to see in the world.” -Mahatma Gandhi
“Remember that laughter is always prayer.” -My mom
What is something you enjoy outside of Yoga?
My partner Huub travels the world for work...I love meeting him in far off places with just a carry on.
Anne teaches Power Flow twice each week: Thursdays 6-7:15 PM and Sundays 8:15-9:30 AM.
